Defenders Mega-Sonic Cat Repeller

So, anyone who has read my ten things I hate about moving post will know I have a cat poo problem! Having 3 kids it’s really not good  having to constantly check for poo before letting them go out to play.So far we’ve tried lining the garden with holly, orange peel, bottles of water and even lion poo pellets…however none of these worked and we felt that we were fighting a losing battle. Then we spotted a Defenders Mega-Sonic Cat Repeller when we were wandering round our local Wilkinsons. At £19 it’s not particularly cheap but as we were getting so desperate we thought we should give it a go. We also had to buy batteries to go in it as these are not supplied. You can also buy a seperate mains adaptor if you think there’s heavy cat activity but we decided to try it out first and see how we got on. The instructions are easy to follow – just put the battery in and switch it on!You can either attach it to your fence (screw pack provided) or use a 50cm length of wood to push into the ground- which is what we decided to do.

So we stuck it in the ground and left it thinking “this is never going to work”. It didn’t appear to do anything except make a clicking noise whenever you go into the garden but obviously that’s the point it’s meant to be unobtrusive to us yet keep the cats away with the sonic bursts that they don’t like.

I am soooooo happy to say that in the 2 weeks that we have been using it we have had only 1 incidence of cat fouling which when you think 1 neighbour alone has 8 cats is not bad going!Don’t get me wrong – I love cats and have had them myself in the past but when we moved into this property the garden was absolutely covered in it and we really needed to break the habit. So I would say to anyone who has tried other things and failed- give it a go!

  1. I think i need one of these! A lot of cats don’t come near now after I’ve thrown water over them, but you still get the sneaky ones! There’s a ridiculous amount if cats on my road.
Simons parents used one of these plug in things in their house but the clicking drove them insane, battery powered outdoor one sounds a much better idea!
