Picture the scene, it’s chucking it down with rain, the kids have said the word ‘bored’ approximately 438 times since 7am and colouring just isn’t cutting it anymore.
Thanks to the Ginger Fox Games Club we were sent some more Family Games to try out. We have played some of their games before and loved them. This time we got to play with Corks and The Emoji Game.
Corks
Could you be the last person holding the gold cork?
A fast and furious card game of elimination, speed, thought, co-ordination, stealth and dastardly cunning – when the need to get a cork comes before all others…
It’s a corker of a game!
Corks is a fab colourful game that the whole family can get involved in. It’s fast and fun and you could find yourself winning the brilliant golden cork!
Inside the box there are 15 corks 14 different coloured corks and 1 special gold one along with a set of 56 cards (14 sets of 4).
The corks are solid, wooden and brightly coloured great for smaller hands – suitable from 6+ – and bigger ones.
The aim of the game is to collect a set of 4 same coloured corks cards and grab a cork from the middle of the table before any other player. Each player starts with a hand of 4 cards and enough corks for the amount of players minus 1, so that 1 player will be left without one when the corks are grabbed in a musical chairs type elimination scenario.
The more players there are the more fun it is, we played with 5 but it can be played by up to 14 so a perfect choice for family get togethers.
Once there are only 2 players left they can battle it out to be the winner of the amazing golden cork!

The Emoji Game
Emotions are sure to run high in this riotous family card game! Be the first to collect a full set of emotions but beware, the devious action cards may hamper your progress in this hilarious family card game!
The Emoji Game is based on cards with lots of recognisable emojis which the kids will love!
In the box is a set of emoji cards, a set of action cards and 4 rules cards.
The aim of the game is to try and complete set of five emoji cards in your hand. Shuffle both sets of cards and put them face down on the table. Used cards go face up in a pile next to them. Each player is dealt 5 emoji cards and they then decide which one they want to try and complete a set of.
Take one card from the action pile and do whatever action it states on the card. We particularly liked ‘Cat time’ where you can only communicate by meowing and ‘monkeying around’ where everyone has to do their best monkey impression. Then take a card from the emoji pile and decide if you want to keep it or return it face up in the emoji discard pile.
During the game some action cards will have you swapping some or all of your cards you could end up with totally different cards to the ones you started with. The winner is the first person to collect a full set of 5 emoji cards, they have to shout out “I’m feeling (whichever emoji set they’ve collected).
- RRP £8.00
- 3-6 players
- Age 8+
Both games are perfect for keeping the kids out of trouble on a wet weekend or any other time for that matter. We really enjoyed both games but our favourite was The Emoji Game.
